LIFE WALK: PART 4 REFRAMING OUR INTERNAL STORIES:
1. You will take the dysfunctional stories beneath your patterns and we are going to reframe them.
Ex.” I am not good enough”
REFRAME: “I am more than enough. I have accomplished so much in life and I strive to continue to grow. I am perfect in God’s eyes. I am not here to please humans. My worth is found in God.”
2. Be sure to use verbiage and words that speaks to you. Reframes need to be rooted in love, logic, grace, and truth. When you cant find the words, think of what you would say to your child or best friend and speak those words to yourself. Write your reframes from that perspective.
3. For deeper more engrained stories you will need to back your reframe up with confidence pillars.
CONFIDENCE PILLARS:
Times in our life that you have overcome, made it through, accomplished, beat the odds. These times give you confidence and prove to yourself You will be OK!
Example of some of my Confidence Pillars:
1. I haven’t drank for 15 years this month. This alone gives me strength that I can do anything I put my mind to.
2. I built a business as a single mother when the odds were stacked against me.
3. My husband and I made it through the first 1.5 years of marriage - blending families, childhood cancer, father’s ALS diagnoses and his death, not being able to have our own children. If can make it though that, I can, we can make it through anything. I did it without numbing which builds my sobriety confidence and confidence in taking anything on.
4. As a child I had debilitating anxiety. Today fear doesn’t stop me and I openly take on challenges that stretch me. I no longer let anxiety keep me stuck..
*Be sure to reframe each story under each pattern.
